Do you use money belts?

I have been researching using a money belt/undercover wallets.
Does anyone else use them? Or are they not really necessary?
Anyone know of good, reliable, comfortable ones?
I was thinking about getting the eagle creek undercover wallet.

I use a money belt. I bought mine at a store called Europe Bound here in Toronto. It's not very expensive, but works well. It's comfortable and it's flat. Gelli's got some great advice at the bottom of this thread: backpack/ daypack. I like having it because it gives me a feeling of security.
In addition, I bought a cheap, skater-boy wallet with one of those chains on it for my spending cash and a credit card. The chain attaches to my belt loops, thus making it harder to pick-pocket.
Finally, I carry a very small amount of spending cash in my pockets for small purchases, so I am not taking out my wallet all the time.

I seem to use the money belt most of the time but at the same time carry a wallet. I just keep the essentials (passport, travellers cheques if I have them, credit cards) in the money belt so that if the wallet goes missing I am not left with no money etc. I just keep a small bit of cash in the wallet... has worked so far for me but is obviously not fool proof..

I personally don't use money belts, but I've heard they can be useful from some of my friends, and from some other friends I've heard they don't work well at all. I bet it all depends on which type of money belt you purchase. They can be great when you're on a long journey and can't bring a lot with you. If you can bring a bag, why not bring a bag because you can fit other things as well as money in it. Undercover wallets might be nice, but I do admit I haven't heard much about them. As for finding a certain type, I'm sorry but I'm quite clueless. Good luck!
Visa for India

Hello,
I am currently in Bangkok and I'm trying to arrange a visa for India. A travel agency told me it would be 140$ USD (US citizen) and take 7 days. Does anyone know if I can do it cheaper and quicker? Also, she told me I could get a visa without an ongoing ticket... I want to do this so I can go overland to Nepal. Has anyone else done this? Thanks for your help.

140 is pretty steep for a Indian Visa and it shouldn't take 7 days. I got my visa for India at a travel agent on Kao San Road a few years ago. I can't remember the exact price but it was nowhere near 140. I would say it was more in the $50-75 range. If you go to a few travel agents on Kao San and ask around, you'll find out pretty quick what the going competitive rate is.
